It is with heavy heart the Officers and Members of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad announce the passing of Past Chief George "Earl" Newton. Earl joined MVRS in 1968 and was elected as Chief in 1976 and also held the office in 1995 until 1999. He has also held the rank of Lieutenant and Training Officer. Earl was voted into lifetime membership in 1999. He was an incredible teacher and support person to EMT and Paramedic students, a CPR instructor, Field Training Officer, and Crew Chief Trainer. In his time with MVRS Earl ran 6,791 calls.

His presence at MVRS will be missed. Earl will be remembered for his quit wit and his wisdom. Rest easy Earl. We'll take it from here.
