It is with great sadness that the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad announced the passing of Life Member Wendy Gibson on June 29th. Wendy was fighting a long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Wendy joined the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1999. She began her volunteer career by getting her EMT. Wendy later joined the St. Mary's County Advanced Life Support Unit and continued her education by becoming a CRT/EMT-I. Wendy also worked at St. Mary's County Emergency Communications. She touched a lot of our hearts in the county. Wendy's voice on the radio reassured many crews, whether it was on St. Mary's County Advanced Life Support Unit or on dispatch at communications. She will be missed by many through out the county. Her memory will forever live on!

Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be Thursday July 5th from 5pm to 8pm at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. Prayers will be held at 7pm with EMS prayers immediately following. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bushwood on Friday, July 6th at 10AM with interment to follow at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown. Any department wishing to bring apparatus should contact Chief 59.

Donations can be made to Hospice of St. Mary's and Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad.
