On February 13th, 2010 Mechanicsville Rescue Squad held their annual installation of officers.

The food was catered by Rita B and the Music by East Coast Productions. Master of Ceremonies was Rocky Woodburn. Mrs. Joan Williams, swore in the New Officers. Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening a success.

President Sue Wood handed out length of service pins during her presentation. She gave the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Mr. John Raley, $1000.00 for their outstanding help throughout 2009. She also presented a check to the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad President, Dr. Roache, and EMS Chief, Marie Kurtz, in the amazing amount of $60,000.00. This money was raised through chicken dinners, auctions, pictures, card parties and many other events. The Auxiliary is a major source of income for the Rescue Squad to have the finer things to work with while in the field. Their true commitment and devotion is appreciated by all the members within our department.

The Rescue Squad presented many awards throughout the night. They began with appreciation certificates to the departments that have helped us through the year. Awards were handed out to the top ten Drivers and Responders for 2009. Awards were given to all Donkey ball participants. Awards were also given to all committee participants. The 2009 line officers were presented with thank you gifts from the Chief.

The Rookie of the Year of 2009 was awarded to Mr. James Cawley and Mr. Cody Sir.

The Chief's Award for 2009 was awarded to Ms. Jessica Tayman and Ms. Nicole Simpson

The Presidents Award for 2009 was awarded to Mr. Harry Finch.

The Squad's Person of the Year of 2009 was awarded to Chief Marie Kurtz.

A good time was had by all that attended and we look forward to another great year serving our community.
